Produce the Horse of Your Dreams!

This stallion has it all – brains, beauty, pedigree and talent. Gatsby tends to cast his “spell” over everyone who ever works with him. Not only does he command looks and attention because of his beauty, but he also has a presence about him that just naturally draws people in. On more than one occasion people have remarked that he is more like a dog than a stallion because he is so responsive to human affection, he’s so sweet, and he wants to please. Gatsby is also absolutely gorgeous with his shiny, jet black coat, four white markings, and beautiful conformation. Gatsby is unique in how he is put together because not only is he refined and modern looking, he also possesses a lot of bone and substance. He is a real head-turner wherever he goes.

Gatsby’s temperament is absolutely one of his hallmark attributes that proves itself most effectively in his offspring. Foal owners frequently comment that their foals are the most trainable and sweet horses they’ve ever worked with. However, sometimes we hesitate to highlight his temperament as much as we do because we never want that to overshadow the very real talent, correct conformation, beautiful movement, and love for jumping that he passes to his kids. We’re simply of the belief that the vast majority of people are looking to breed not only for pedigree, talent, and movement, but for brains too! With Gatsby, you literally get it all. As the old adage says, “the proof is in the pudding.” Gatsby has four foal crops on the ground and the story remains consistent. His foals are both talented and trainable with correct conformations and the versatility for training and competition in all the sporthorse disciplines. With great minds, superb trainability, correct conformation, lots of jump, and fantastic movement, Gatsby is literally helping people produce the horses of their dreams!

A LITTLE ABOUT GATSBY’S PEDIGREE

Gatsby is by the legendary elite Hanoverian stallion, Gonzo I. Gonzo competed successfully as a Puissance horse in Europe under the Olympian Frank Sloothak, clearing the 7’2” wall on several occasions. Now THAT takes a lot of heart, as Puissance horses jump walls they cannot see over at all. In the realm of showjumping, Gonzo I’s pedigree is impeccable. His dam was a full sister to the legendary Deister, who in one decade with the Olympian Paul Schockemoehle amassed $1.5 million in earnings, wining an Olympic Silver medal, four German National Championships and three European Championships. Gonzo I’s sire, Gepard, produced Hunter sire, All the Gold and 12 Grand Prix showjumpers. His grandsire, Gotthard, is the most famous jumping sire in the Hanoverian breed. Gonzo also competed successfully through 4th level dressage, which is a feat unto itself, considering that he accomplished this achievement AFTER completing an illustrious Grand Prix showjumping career. His offspring are much sought after by both professionals and amateurs in all disciplines. Gonzo I has produced States Premium mares in Germany, and his German FN recorded Dressage Production Index (for offspring) has now equaled his Jumping Production Index. After Gonzo I was imported to the United States, he became the most requested Hanoverian stallion between 1995-1997.

Gatsby’s dam line descends from the legendary Seattle Slew, who remains to this day the only undefeated Triple Crown winner in history. His Thoroughbred influence really lends itself to the lightness and athleticism characteristic in Gatsby’s foals. Seattle Slew earned Horse of the Year honors in 1977 and was elected to the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. In the Blood-Horse magazine’s ranking of the top 100 U.S. Thoroughbred champions of the 20th Century, Seattle Slew was ranked number 9. Perhaps the best way to describe the kind of horse Slew was would be to quote one or two people who were lucky enough to have known him personally:

“He was by far the best horse I ever sat on. He reminded me of Muhaamad Ali. He was that good and he had that same sort of presence. He’d come into the paddock and you could tell he was showing off.”
Jockey – Angel Cordero Jr.

“It was one of the great privileges to be around something great, a feeling that will likely never be duplicated,” he said. “He was one in a million, and showed us there is that possibility in a game of impossibilities.”
Hill ‘n’ Dale owner, John Sikura.

Gatsby’s lineage is filled with royalty! His pedigree marks not only achievement and success, but also incredible heart and depth of character. Both his sire and dam lines represent horses that literally went “above and beyond” the normal call of duty and were achievers of extraordinary feats.
