Comic B, as he was originally named, is a stallion who was inspired from his very conception. His breeder Johannes Brinkmann aimed to produce in Comic a top dressage horse without neglecting jumping talent. Comic is just that … a son of the highly versatile and proven Holsteiner stallion Come On, Comic is a testimony to the vision of Johannes Brinkmann.
Comic produced Class I results in his 100-Day Test in Münster-Handorf (123.14) in the year 2000 and was awarded a score of 10.0 for his general rideability. He also earned scores of 9.0 in riding horse and aptitude tests and won several riding horse classes and dressage novice classes as a 4-year old. As a 5-year old, Comic earned a 6th place finish in the 2002 FEI World Championships for Young Horses in Verden and 3rd place in the qualifications for the prestigious Bundeschampionat. Comic showcased the versatility of his pedigree by competing lightly in jumpers at age 6.
Near the end of 2003, Hilltop Farm was approached by the FRH (Verein zur Förderung des Reitsports auf hannoverschen Pferden e.V), the organization which secures top talent for Germany's future sport and promotes this talent under their best riders, with a special opportunity. They offered a partnership arrangement with Comic between his breeder Johannes Brinkmann, the FRH, and Hilltop Farm. The versatility of this stallion’s pedigree, combined with his exceptional rideability and sport performance sealed the deal, and Comic Hilltop FRH was a proud addition to the Hilltop Farm line-up.
Competition success for Comic Hilltop FRH has continued. Paired now with Carola Koppelmann, Comic is a seasoned FEI horse well on his way to the Grand Prix arena. This pair capped off the 2006 show season with a win at the prestigious Nürnberger BurgPokal Finals with a 74.10%. In 2007, the pair moved up to the Grand Prix level and immediately qualified for the HKM Cup, a finals for young Grand Prix horses.
Comic’s sire Come On (Cantus-Langraf I) was Reserve Champion of his stallion performance testing in Medingen. Come On developed into a successful international show jumper with wins and top placings at Nations Cup events under Ludger Beerbaum, Ralf Schneider, and HRH Princess Haya of Jordan.
Comic's dam Pik Dame (Platon I-Grande) has produced five offspring by different sires competing successfully in both dressage and show jumping. Her sire, the Westphalian stallion Platon I was a successful jumper on the open international level under Nelson Pessoa for Brazil and under German federal trainer Kurt Gravemeyer for Germany. Platon I traces back to the Thoroughbred stallion Pluchino xx, as do the influential stallions Polydor and Pilot. Pik Dame's dam Grande Maree competed herself in show jumping and produced Adonis S by Almé Star and Rosita by Raphael, both successful show jumpers to the intermediate level.
The first foals by Comic Hilltop FRH hit the ground in Germany, Canada, and the US in 2005. His foals demonstrate a beautiful uphill balance in their frames and their sire’s supple, elasticity movement and clear elevation of the stride through the knee and forearm. All Comic’s youngsters have demonstrated pleasing attitudes and generous natures.
Comic's quiet, calm manner and easy rideability suit the amateur market beautifully and there is a strong likelihood that Comic will produce the versatility contained in his pedigree.
